For me, taking photographs is a way to transcend time’ Maria is originally from Chicago and we are very lucky to have her now living on our shores. She is however no stranger to this country. We have known her for 13 years, when she worked with our production team on a photoshoot here. She has been visiting ever since, spending several months a year staying in destinations across the country and encouraging as many clients as possible to our lovely country- indeed she is more familiar with the South Island than many locals. Maria specializes in shooting people on location. She has embraced the dramatic light and stunning locations of New Zealand and these have served her cinematic approach well. Maria studied Fine Arts and holds a BFA in photography. Her assignments have taken her from New Zealand to South Africa, Berlin to Kuala Lumpur, and of course all over the USA and Canada. Her photographs have been published in Communication Arts, Archive, Graphis, Print, American Photographer, Photo Design, and AR100, among others, and her work has won numerous awards, including a National Addy. Maria is passionate about her art and is rarely to be found without a camera in her hands.
